Create shortcuts to applications OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

In short:

Create a new service. In ‘service recives’ select ‘no input’ and any ‘application’.

Create a service ‘launch application’.

Save as service.

Assign a keyboard shortcut to your service in System Preferences/Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts/Services
