Backup usb stick with dd

Clone to other usb:

dd if=/dev/hdx of=/dev/hdy

Clone to image

dd if=/dev/hdx of=/path/to/image

Clone to compressed image

dd if=/dev/hdx | gzip > /path/to/image.gz

To restore image:

dd if=/path/to/image of=/dev/hdx

To restore compressed image:

gzip -dc /path/to/image.gz | dd of=/dev/hdx

Maybe you have tu add “sudo” before each command. In the last example before gzip and before dd.
